Description of Services
Here you will find a description of services available in select Lasting Legacy packages.
Web Pages of Text - A web page of text is a measurement of text used to create a legacy. A web page of text is approximately the size of one full page of printed text, about 700 words. Each page of text can be separated into its own section if desired. For example a person purchasing a Plus package has 5 Web Pages of Text and could separate them into separate pages such as Childhood Memories, My Children, Close Friends, My Spouse, and Pets.
*Lasting Legacy is happy to help you transcribe your text from written format to digital. Some fees may apply.
Pictures - This describes the number of pictures that can be included in an online legacy. Pictures can be used throughout the legacy in order to help tell stories or share memories or they can be neatly arranged in a website photo gallery if a legacy package includes one. For the Plus and Premium legacy packages the pictures may be in both photo galleries and throughout the legacy.
*Lasting Legacy is happy to help convert prints and slides to a digital format. Some fees may apply.
Photo Galleries - A photo gallery is a section of the online legacy that arranges the pictures in an easy to view gallery so friends and family can not only browse the pictures, but also find one quickly if need be.
Voice/Video - Some people may wish to leave a video clip or sound recording for their friends and family to view. This can be anything from a message to friends and family to a favorite video clip from their lives.
*Lasting Legacy is happy to help convert 8MM, VHS, DVD, and other videos into a digital web-ready format. Some fees may apply.
Friend/Family Notification - As a part of the Plus and Premium packages people creating legacies have the option to have family and friends notified at the time of their passing. In addition to listing their Lasting Legacy in their obituary some people may wish to notify select people of their passing and that they would like for them to view their online Lasting Legacy.
E-Mail - The person creating the legacy would provide email addresses of the people they would like notified, along with a message that would be sent after Lasting Legacy is notified of the persons' passing limit of 20 E-Mail addresses.
Optional Private Legacy - Some people creating a legacy may wish that it be for close friends and family only, or have a part of it for family only. Lasting Legacy offers the option to have part or all of a online legacy private and people will need to have a password in order to view sections of a legacy. The people who view this section are completely up to the person creating the legacy, it is their choice of who to share the password with.
Legacy Archive - Lasting Legacy provides a digital copy of every part of a legacy on file: all pictures, text, sound, and video is kept on file for double the amount of time the online legacy remains online. So if someone creates a legacy and sets it up to have an online duration of 10 years, it would be archived by Lasting Legacy for 20 years. For public non-private legacies people can request copies of the legacies to keep and they will be mailed to them, for private legacies people requesting archived legacy information will need to have the legacy password.
*Some fees may apply for requesting archived legacies.
Voice Recording Assistance - As part of the Plus and Premium packages Lasting Legacy provides assistance in making voice recordings. Voice recordings can be made over the phone and then added to an online legacy.
*Some fees may apply
Minimum Duration (Online Legacy Duration) - The duration of an online legacy is the amount of time in years that the legacy will remain online for people to view using their computers. The duration of a legacy begins when the legacy is created.
Executor Password/Update - As part of the Plus and Premium packages this option gives people who create a legacy the opportunity to assign an executor to be in charge of the legacy once they pass away. This allows the executor with the password to make an update to the person's legacy such as the day the passed away, obituary, or information that the legacy creator wanted to be available only after they passed away.
Legacy Mailed On Request - This option allows people who knew the person who left a legacy to request by mail a copy of their legacy. For private legacies the password must be provided in order to receive a copy of the legacy. Legacies can be mailed for as long as they remain in the Legacy Archive.
*Some fees may apply for requesting archived legacies.
Setup Fee - The setup fee is the cost associated with the creation of an online legacy. It involves taking the information sent in by someone requesting a legacy and adding it to the Legacy Archive and the Lasting Legacy website where a person's friends and family can view it.
Yearly/Duration Fee - The Yearly/Duration fee is the cost associated with keeping a legacy in the Legacy Archive and online for the person's friends and family to view it. The duration starts when the legacy is created so if someone created a legacy in July 2008 and purchased a 20 year duration it would be online until July 2028. |
